I just turned 22 last October. And I’m in my third/final year in UKM.
.
Many would consider me as young. I would like to consider myself as young too.
.
However, it seems that I’m not that young anymore. And I’ll be part of the statistics of unemployed graduates very soon. This kind of freaks me out a bit. No wait… it freaks me out A LOT!
.
I wouldn’t have felt this ‘old’ness if not for some of my friends started to lament that they are getting old. First, this swimming pal complains that ‘every other day is not as well as the day before’ (in mandarin). His stamina seems to have reduced recently (he is still a superb swimmer; 10, 20 laps non stop is nothing to him).
.
The my course mate, Jin Chaw also lamented that he’s getting old. You wouldn’t believe the reason he gave me.
“When you listen to the radio and realise that all the new songs suck, and when it plays some (not-so)old songs you actually enjoy them, you know your generation has passed. That basically means you are getting old.”
.
What he said actually makes sense.
.
The worst of it was when this standard 2 kid in my mom’s tuition class called me ‘uncle’.
.
Shite! I am getting old.
.
At the age of 22.
.
Shite!!
.
Yours Sincerely,
the OLd Man
Ahahahaa.. Good Morning Uncle Yuan Wu.. Last time when i was young i called my mum’s colleague “uncle” at his birthday party.. So unfortunate for him, I remember his cake was a big key.. Hehe..
Yah, i dare not tell when ppl ask me abt my age in my blog’s chatter box :p
OLd is relative term.
In your parent eye, you are still a baby,
Heee……..
even though you, one fine day, are married and out of the house. They will be there for you.
Meanwhile, enjoy the privilege of uncle by not robbing toys from your nice or nephew and let youngster to be front of the queue.
